Kuwait is a small oil rich country, while referring to the education system we can classify before and after 1950’s. Before 1950’s there are few Quran schools providing religious teachings and Arabic literature After 1950’s oil boom accelerate the development of Kuwait and it reflects in Social and economical fields. Government established more schools for nationals to develop the education with modern facilities and appointed professional expatriate teachers. Before people are engaged in fishing, pearling and trading.
Before 1950 there are schools in Kuwait, First modern school was established in 1912 Al Mubarakiya School, we can say that was the foundation of modern school education in Kuwait, the intention behind the Mubarakiya School is to provide proper training in arithmetic and commercial skills. The first English school in Kuwait established in 1921 ‘Al Ahmadia’ School, and with the help of expatriate community more schools are established. After 1950’s Kuwait government understood the importance of education and established more schools, Technical educational centers, kindergarten, and special schools for handicapped students and special education for men and women. Kuwait University was established offer facilities in many departments such as technology, healthcare, engineering, commerce, communication, survey and other fields.
